Transfer of thawed frozen eggs
Some times we experience that the woman has more eggs removed than she needs. If this is the case, you can choose to have your eggs frozen for later use, for instance when a brother or a sister needs to be helped into the world. In this case you do not need to go through a complete in vitro fertilisation treatment again.
When thawing frozen eggs the only treatment the woman has to go through is a hormone stimulation of the endometrium, so that it is ready to receive the thawed eggs.
At transfer of thawed eggs you must be aware of the fact that:
- According to Danish law frozen eggs have to be destroyed after two years.
- We only thaw frozen eggs if you have given your consent in writing.
- A principal rule is that we only thaw 6 fertilised eggs at a time.
- Approx. 40 per cent of the frozen eggs will not survive the thawing.
